International Policy
The European Union as a whole provides approximately 60% of global support to ICPD goals. A number of processes have been taken place that are re-shaping the EU's aid policies. These include enlargement, the content of the European Constitution, the design of a Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), deconcentration of development grant decision making, and the new EU financial instruments and thematic programmes. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
The MDGs are a set of 8 goals assorted with specific indicators and timeframes that government have committed themselves to achieve by 2015. The MDGs aim to address extreme poverty and form a blueprint agreed to by all the world's countries and all the world's leading development institutions. Three of the eight MDGs relate to reproductive health and set out specific targets and corresponding indicators for achieving gender equality; improving maternal health and combating HIV/AIDS.
